End Panic Attacks With Panic Away

"I finally had to call an ambulance"

My wife had suffered a series of frightening and debilitating attacks. She would feel sensations like mild electric shocks in the abdomen and palpitations in the chest. Her skin would go pale and clammy. Her whole body would go tense as she fought to regain control. Her breathing would became a series of gasps and she would grip my hand in fear.

We were convinced were something really serious was going on, but after an attack, everything was back to normal. We could describe what had happened to doctors but there was nothing for them to see. It was only when an attack was so severe that I had to call an ambulance that a paramedic told us that it was 'only a panic attack'.

It is easy to say that when you are not the one experiencing them. He knew that it was just a matter of time before the attack passed. But he didn't offer any advice as to how to deal with them in the future. And a big part of the problem is the fear of the next one. But at least we knew what we were dealing with now and I could do some research.

Panic Away

The Panic away ProgramFortunately, it didn't take me long to discover Panic Away. This is a system created by Joe Barry, a man who was himself a sufferer of panic attacks for many years. When the medical profession had failed to come up with a solution for him, he finally developed his own. When I came across his website, it was immediately obvious that he knew what he was talking about.

As I read what is a very helpful and informative site, I found myself mentally nodding in agreement as I recognised the symptoms and experiences described. His system seemed to offer a common sense approach to the problem and, from the testimonials, it seemed to have been beneficial to a lot of people. I had no hesitation in making a purchase.

The system is available for immediate download. The main element is the ebook, 'The Panic Away Program'. It is not too long a book, about 150 pages, and it written in clear, fairly jargon free language.  It begins with a foreword which makes the bold claim that anyone can be free of panic attacks, no matter what they have tried before.

I won't go into too much detail here, as there is very comprehensive information on the authors website. I will say that although the book is short, it could have been shorter. At the beginning, there is a lot of stuff on the various theories about what causes panic attacks and the resulting approaches to preventing them.

Then, there is a definition of what anxiety is and a list of the physical, mental and emotional symptoms that you may experience as a result of a panic attack. I found myself wanting to skip ahead to get to the meat of the thing. I do believe though, that this is partly our own fault. Most of us have a talent for overcomplicating things.

One Move Technique

When we finally get to the 'One Move Technique', the core of the system, it is both simple and counterintuitive. We probably need all the preamble to convince us that something so simple can be effective. But my wife and I proved for ourselves that it is. It is no magic bullet though. It may be a simple technique but you still have to apply it. It might also need some persistence.

The book does deal with this though. After using the technique to remove the fear of panic attacks, it addresses the underlying causes of general anxiety that leads to them. There is also advice on dealing with any setbacks you may have, and staying on the road to permanent recovery.

The book ends with a long section on the various sensations that you may experience when suffering a panic attack. The author believes that is is valuable to understand these sensations and also to rule out any other possible causes of them. Personally, having just learned the technique for dealing with panic attacks, I question the value of reading about the symptoms.

A Panic Away Video

Panic Away videoThere are some other elements of the program. For those who don't like reading, there are a set of video presentations covering all the information in the book. There also a couple of audio programs. I believe that possibly the most valuable part of the program is 'One Move Live'. This is a recording of the author talking you through the technique.

One Move Technique AudioIt is one thing to learn the technique, but it is another to be able to apply it in the midst of an attack. I found that even as a bystander, it was difficult to call to mind the exact process. With this recording, you don't have to. I think it is also beneficial for the sufferer and those they may rely on for support, to listen to it a few times before an attack occurs.

All in all, we found this a very valuable program. My wife is not yet completely free of panic attacks, but she no longer lives in fear of them and when they do happen, she is much better prepared to deal with them. She doesn't feel the need to fight them and try to make them stop.

I highly recommend a visit to the Panic Away website. It has a lot of useful advice and resources as well as a very full explanation of what the program is all about.
